Don’t have insurance through an employer? You may need individual health insurance.

Get health insurance with the flexibility of cost and coverage.

If you don’t have health care coverage through your employer, or if you’re self-employed, individual health insurance is essential. Don’t panic about the costs; plans may be cheaper than you expect if you shop around, and you’ll often have a lot of flexibility when it comes to the balance of premium costs and coverage.

What should you consider when choosing a policy?

Depending on your health level and appetite for risk, you can often find a policy and price that’s just right for you. The four main variables to consider include the deductible, copayment, annual limits, and the actual coverage offered in your policy.

  • Deductibles, the amount you pay before insurance pays.
  • Copayments, the percentage that you pay toward medical bills.
  • Annual limit, the total amount the insurer pays.
  • Medical services, treatment, and drugs the policy covers.

Preventative care is typically taken care of.

When getting individual health insurance, insurance providers typically pay up to 100 percent of the costs of preventative health care, such as checkups, screenings, and vaccines. This is an important aspect to know when selecting a health insurance policy.

Short Term Medical Options

Low-cost, simplified issue plan for when you may not be eligible for the Affordable Care Act. Maybe you missed the open enrollment period or just couldn’t afford the premium. Much less expensive than COBRA continuation when you are laid off. Use the links below or call us for quotes from National General, Pivot, IHC, or Allied. Short-term plans do not cover pre-existing conditions. Wisconsin regulation limits you to 18 months with one STM carrier, then a 63-day gap. Could insure elsewhere for the 63 days.

Use the link above for the short term that includes unlimited doctor and Urgent care visits with a modest copay ($50), no networks to worry about, and optional unlimited access to free MD-Live telehealth visits ($15.95/mo). All plans offer a choice of $250,000 to $1.5 Million maximum protection, a choice of deductibles, and either an 80/20 or 50/50, or 100/0 coinsurance.

Click Here for Pivot Short Term

Use the link above for a quick estimate. The lowest premiums show first but look for “Choice” plans if you like money-saving office visit co-pays. Moving up to “Standard” and “Deluxe” add-in coverage for drugs while lower plans offer a drug discount card.

Golden Rule
Allstate Short Term

We recommend the $5,000 Deductible 100% plan as it provides $1 million coverage and pays 100% after the annual deductible. It also includes a $50 copay for Urgent Care, so even if you have not met the deductible, you only pay $50 for up to four Urgent Care visits. For even more complete coverage we can add a supplement covering accident medical expenses up to your deductible amount
